Bible Reading

We believe the Bible as the inspired written Word of God.  The Word of God creates and nurtures faith through the work of the Holy Spirit and points us to Jesus Christ, the living Word and center of our faith.  In reading the Bible, we are invited into a relationship with God that both challenges us and promises us new life.

Because we believe the Bible is norma normans sed non normata (the norm that rules other norms), we encourage everyone to open and read their Bible daily.

To encourage people to read their Bible, we provide two different programs to help individuals read their Bible.  You can subscribe to receive a daily email from us on either Bible reading schedule on our Email Notification page.

The first Bible reading schedule was produced by The Consultation on Common Texts. This schedule consists of daily lessons that related to the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL).

The second Bible reading schedule was created by Michael Coley, and it can be found at www.bible-reading.com.  This schedule divides the scripture into seven different categories, and each category is read on a particular day. The Epistles are read on Sundays.  The Torah/Pentitude is read on Mondays.  Historical Books are read on Tuesdays.  The Psalms are read on Wednesdays.  Poetry/Wisdom books are read on Thursdays.  Prophets and the book of Revelation are read on Fridays, and the Gospels are read on Saturdays.
